Allu Arjun Looking for April Release Again

April has become a lucky month for Allu Arjun not just because he was born on 8th April but several movies released in this month became blockbuster.
More recently he got three huge hits – “Racegurram”, “S/O Sathyamurthy” and “Sarrainodu” – all of them were released in April. As he didn’t miss to release his movies in April for the last three years, he wants to repeat the same next year.
Allu Arjun today launched his new film “DJ – Duvvada Jagannadham” under the direction of Harish Shankar. It would be commencing its regular shoot shortly but producer Dil Raju already announced the release date saying it would come in the first week of April.
Allu Arjun’s career is blooming and he has joined the top league of actors. So at this moment, he wants to play safe game and doesn’t want to take risks. Although this film was inked long back, he didn’t take it to the sets as he wanted full script before going to the sets. Harish Shankar took time and finished the script with complete dialogue version in the last two months.
These days, most heroes and directors have become sentimental about the months like Rajamouli prefers to release his movies in July (Magadheera, Eega, Maryada Ramanna and Baahubali), and Nani feels September is his lucky time (Asta Chemma and Bhale Bhale Magadiovy). Nani is now planning to release his upcoming movie ‘Majnu’ either on September 16th or 23rd.

Sarrainodu Movie Review

With the season's first biggie Sardaar Gabbar Singh turning out to be an epic disappointment, fans and trade are heavily banking upon Sarrainodu to come to the rescue. Boyapati Srinu's decent track record and ever reliable Allu Arjun combining with Allu Aravind, one of the top producers of Telugu film industry, one would expect a minimum guarantee film. However, Sarainodu suffered a lot due to bad story and screenplay. Allu Arjun did his best to save this film from being a debacle, but even a star cannot help a lackluster script to be a blockbuster.

What is it about?

Gana (Allu Arjun) the son of Chief Secretary falls in love with local MLA (Catherine). When he decides to give up his rebellious attitude to marry her, in comes Maha (Rakul) with a big problem. Now Gana has to lock horns with blood thirsty, powerful criminal Dhanush (Aadi) to save Maha from the trouble. Who is this Maha and how is she linked to Dhanush? Why does she comes running to Gana for help?

Performances:

Allu Arjun: Allu Arjun has never attempted a full blooded massy entertainer in his career so far. Boyapati Srinu is particularly known for making mass masala films with heavy dose of violence and bloodshed. Allu Arjun effortlessly slips into the character. His bulked up body makes us believe that he has the raw power to kick and kill that many bad guys. Allu Arjun added his dose of comedy to the film with his antics and dialog delivery. Allu Arjun fans won't be disappointed with the film as the actor delivers a commendable performance all the way.

Aadi Pinishetty and Others:
Boyapati is known for creating some of the powerful villains Telugu film audience have ever seen. We expect a lot when an actor of Aadi caliber is given the antagonist role. Aadi looks suave and stylish. However he is not as menacing as he should be. His character is not etched properly as it loses steam after a while.

Rakul Preeth is just okay. All she has to do is look admiringly at Allu Arjun whenever he is bashing the bad guys. Catherine is a miscast as the MLA. Brahmanandam's comedy is stale, so is Vidyullekha's. There are a lot of noted actors in the film but none makes an impression including Srikanth.

Technicalities:

Boyapati Srinu banks upon his strengths yet again. He didn't take Allu Arjun's image into consideration. He focused only upon presenting Allu Arjun in a mass avatar. He spent a lot of time on hero elevation shots and scenes. He didn't take much care about the script that goes haywire most of the times. Allu Arjun had to put things back on track whenever Boyapati goes off the mark.

Thaman's background score is powerful. Songs are good and are shot lavishly. Dialogues could have been better. Cinematography is top class. Editing is bad as the film drags on and on. Production values are one of the biggest assets to this film.

Thumbs Up:

Allu Arjun

Hero Elevations

Thumbs Down:

Uninteresting Script

Overdose Of Violence

Predictable Climax

Analysis:
A lot of buildup is given to the villain right from the first scene. We settle in expecting a tug of war between the villain and the hero. However hero is too powerful that any number of rowdies can't even pull out a button from his shirt. At least the director should have given the villain an upper hand for some time.

But nothing can stop the hero from whatever he does and wherever he wants to go. Even the villain looks like a mere puppet after a while. There is little depth in Boyapati's story that it struggles hard to keep going. Boyapati Srinu has included many fight scenes to keep the audiences interested.

All the stunts are choreographed in the same way. There is no variety and it gets hideous after some time. We expect a powerful climax because of the powerful villain, but all we are served is a run of the mill stuff that ends horribly predictable. There are few bright points about the film, but we cannot let this one pass off as a passable fare as there are so many more dark moments. Allu Arjun's spotless performance is the main highlight of this Boyapati's bland and boring mass masala offering.

Verdict: Not 'Saraina' Attempt!

Allu Arjun's Duvvada Jagannadham goes on floors

Tollywood star Allu Arjun's upcoming Telugu romantic entertainer Duvvada Jagannadham, took off yesterday (August 28)..

Tollywood superstar Allu Arjun, who was last seen in the blockbuster Telugu film Sarrainodu, is all set to start his next project titled Duvvada Jagannadham.
Duvvada Jagannadham officially took off yesterday (August 28) and it is reported that the makers will commence the regular shooting from this morning.
Allu arjun took it Twitter and posted the pooja stills from the sets.

Tipped to be a romantic entertainer, rumours were rife that Bunny plays the role of a DJ in the film. Rubbishing all the rumours, the makers said that the film's title has nothing to do with his character and that Duvvada Jagannadham is the name of Bunny's character in the film.
The film will be produced by Dil Raju's Sri Venkateswara Creations, who is collaborating with Arjun after seven years and they've previously worked in films like Arya and Parugu.
According to The News Minute, director Harish has written a script that will target the masses. While the film is slated to release in the summer of 2017, there aren't any confirmation regarding the cast and crew.
Meanwhile, Allu Arjun, who was supposed to team up with director Lingusamy for a Tamil-Telugu bilingual, has put on hold to the project, say reports.
Interestingly, Allu Arjun, who was recently present at the SIIMA Awards, shaken a leg for a Tamil song Maari, and the video is doing rounds online.

Badrinath Movie Review

Tamanna and Allu Arjun in Badrinath

The only sunshine in Badrinath was the glimpse of Sunshine Hospital. Given a chance one would straight away jump into the screen at it's sight for some treatment. The audience is yet to recover the post traumatic stress of Khaleja, Anaganga O Dheerudu, Shakti and here they are bombarded by a pile of outdated, formula sticks jumbled into a confusion called screenplay and wrapped and disguised with rich visual tapestry.

A reed thin and a pretty looking Tamanna dressed in tops that ends just where it needs to plays cricket in the picturesque surroundings, the people are reminded about the existence of Chiranjeevi through liberal references in song and dialogue, the chrysanthemum masquerades as the lotus, the female villain Ashwini leaves her hair, shrieks and dominates her husband but surprisingly addresses him with a lot of reverence as Sarkaar.

By the time the main leads and supporting cast completed work, the director must have been tired, the comedians didn't get his focus. Just like in many Telugu movies we have imposters and thieves robbing pilgrims on the banks of Kasi we too get to see Krishna Bhagawan do the same. Luckily the saving grace is that there is no double role, the hero comes for a while without his pony tail to bring in some relief but what goes beyond understanding is the breaking into a jig to some western music.

The last scene defies all logic, Prakash Raj sees reason and blesses the couple, tells them to give their baby to him so that he can groom him as a successor. Thanks to the writer, the director has narrated this story about the woman winning her man whose weakness is one and only the God and his temple. That is the power of love which weans away the divinity in man. Prakash Raj couldn't stop it happening but he expects the couple's would-be born infant to be given away to him to be groomed as another temple guard.

Allu Arjun has been let down again, he cannot romance the heroine for real, it has to be the dream sequences. When the heroine bumps into him on the ice bridge, the hero is stone faced, he is not supposed to emote but the audience is expected to feel the chemistry in the duets? There is not a single scene which shows him reciprocating, so is it 100% love, should we call this an unrequited love and a story?

Post interval it's just a confusion time. The strict censoring has taken away the magic of formula for the mass audiences, it ended being abrupt. When the story line is predictable by the first half the director should be doubly careful in engaging the audience through the next one hour or so. By merely filling it with action and forced comedy scenes, one is pandering to one segment of the audiences alone. Arjun is a fabulous actor and dancer but what is the point when he is wasted in silly scenes?

Other than reprimanding the comedians for cheating pilgrims or fighting with the villains or helping the lady grab the flowers, there is nothing distinct about his work. Rao Ramesh is wasted and Pragati puts up a decent act after Andari Banduvaya. The screenplay is disappointing and the music is passable. Tamanna and Arjun's dance to the title song is interesting, if the heroine dances to such mass numbers so well, the item girls will go out of job.

The industry badly needs a hit, let's chant Om Namo Narayanaya with the same intensity and passion of Arjun in the film to get our returns at the BO. The rest take a shower at 'Vasundhara' with the scripts before going to the sets to see if it will work. BTW, the story of Badrinath in a nut shell is about a cowherd raised and tutored to be a skilled temple guard. He is bound by a rule to remain unmarried to become a successor of his guru while a lady is smitten by him and wants to marry him. The guard has to save the damsel in distress yet prove his loyalty to the guru.
